Beneficio Atlantic is grown in the mountains above the regional capital Jinotega in the North of the country. Most of the farmers who have contributed to this lot have small farms, often fewer than 3 hectares in size. Once the coffee is harvested it is brought down to the windy flats where Beneficio Atlantic lies for processing, drying and final milling. Through working with the Beneficio these small holders who often do not have processing equipment of their own have been able to ensure that their coffee is processed to their exacting standards and sold to roasters like us.

Nicaragua is truly an emerging origin in speciality coffee despite the fact that many producers here go to great lengths to achieve high quality. Unfortunatly, like a lot of the Central Americas it was in the grip of civil war for many years, doubled with a ban on exporting coffee it has only just begun to come into its own. After our recent work on the ground in Jinotega and surrounds, we are really excited to present this regional lot as part of our new single origin coffees.
